Blog Post 5: What To Expect At Your Initial Assessment

The Treatment Portion of Your First Visit at Endurance:

At Endurance Therapeutics, our approach to treatment is holistic and tailored to your body’s specific needs. In this post, we’ll break down what to types of treatment to expect during your initial assessment after completing the history, physical, plan of management and informed consent.

Soft Tissue Therapy:

Techniques like Myofascial Release Therapy (MRT), trigger point therapy, and muscle scrapping help relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, and promote healing. This is very beneficial for chronic muscle tightness that is built up either from poor posture from being at your computer or from high levels of training for your sport. It can also help for maintenance to help keep muscles loose and working optimally.

Joint Mobilizations:

We use gentle joint mobilizations which help with any decrease in range or restrictions through the joints. Muscles and joints work together and therefore is important to work into both the muscles and the joints.

Chiropractic Adjustments:

If comfortable, chiropractic adjustments can be incorporated into the plan of management. These gentle adjustments allow for joints to be aligned in the optimal position to allow the nervous system, joints and muscles to work together in harmony.

Stretching:

There are multiple ways to stretch. All of which are helpful for improving range of motion of the joints, release muscle and fascia, and increasing overall mobility through the body. This allows for decrease risk of injury and increased performance.

Functional Movement and Education:

Dr. Keirstyn believes in educating her patients and community to learn how to become injury resistant. The more you listen to your body and what it is telling you, the better you can mitigate injury. This allows for consistency in training and optimization in performance and longevity in sport.

By combining these therapies with your individualized treatment plan, we work to help your body recover and perform at its best. If you are interested in taking the next step to improving your health and performance reach out today!
