What Are They?
Joint mobilizations are a passive way to help increase range of motion through a joint. It is a great form of treatment to use in conjunction with soft tissue therapy and prior to chiropractic adjustments. It allows for the joints to move more smoothly and for the adjustment to be more impactful. Research has shown they can also be used in place of an adjustment if a patient is uncomfortable or too sore.
Common Joints We Mobilize:
Joints within the Foot
Ankle
Hip
Pelvis
Spine
TMJ
Shoulder
Elbow
Joints of the Hand/Fingers
Chiropractic Adjustments
What Is A Chiropractic Adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a high velocity, low amplitude force through a misaligned (or ‘stuck’) joint. Dr. Keirstyn known as a gentle practitioner when doing her adjustments. This allows for a comfortable experience for all of her patients, whether it is their first time or they come all the time.
It Is A MYTH That Chiropractors ONLY Adjust!
Their are different types of chiropractic styles. Dr. Keirstyn went to The Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, ON where they train for 4 years to learn to specialize in not only the spine and nervous system, but also on muscles and all joints of the body. This type of therapy is especially helpful for endurance athletes because it allows for the nervous system, muscles and joints to be released and become more balanced.
*Dr. Keirstyn only adjusts patients who are comfortable with being adjusted. Their are many other therapies she provides in placement is someone is uncomfortable with them!
